Bei den hier zusammengestellten Stücken sind keine Komponisten genannt. Es dürfte sich zum Teil um damals allgemein bekannte Tanzmelodien handeln. Der Generalbass ist als leicht spielbarer und möglichst durchsichtiger Satz ausgesetzt. Wird die Begleitung auf einem Cembalo ausgeführt, so kann die Basstimme auf einer Gambe oder auf einem Cello mitgespielt werden.


No composers are mentioned in the pieces of this edition, as they may be partly regarded as well-known dance melodies of the time. The realisation of the thorough-bass is aimed at a clear and uncomplicated setting. Should the accompaniment be played on a harpsichord, the bass part could be doubled by a gamba or a cello, thus giving strength to the continuo line.
